Baking Powder Biscuits with Fresh Strawberries

Serves 8 

A scrumptious dessert which always gets raves!

4 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 Tbs. baking powder
1 1/2 sticks cold butter
1 1/2 cups milk
dash salt
Berries:
4 cups or more of fresh ripe strawberries
1/4 cup sugar or to taste
clotted cream, creme fraiche or heavy cream as desired

Berries: Slice berries and add sugar. Stir to combine. Chill prior to making biscuits. 

Biscuits: Combine dry ingredients. Cut in butter to resemble coarse meal. Stir in milk with a fork to from a soft dough. Knead briefly with floured hands just to hold dough together. Divide mixture in half. Pat each half onto a greased baking sheet into a 9 inch circle. Bake in a 450F oven 15 to 20 minutes or until biscuit is golden.

To Serve: Cool prepared biscuits to warm. Place one biscuit circle on a round rimmed platter. Top with some sliced sugared berries including some of the berry juice .Place on the second biscuit. Top with more berries. Slice into wedges to serve along with clotted cream.
