When you get home, place the pastry in the fridge instead
of the freezer. About 15 minutes before party time, slather the cheese with
preserves, sprinkle it with
toasted nuts, and wrap it in a sheet of the thawed pastry.
Bake your hors d'oeuvre in a 350 degree oven for 25
minutes; you'll have a mahogany-brown pastry wheel oozing with melted brie,
apricots and nuts. Yum. Serve immediately.
An almost infinite number of versions can be made by
varying the preserves and nuts. Make sure you
toast the nuts for the
best flavor. Spicy jalapeno jelly and pinon nuts are a good combination. Or
try orange marmalade and walnuts, served with ginger cookies instead of
crackers. Apricot preserves and pecans are delightful !
