 Frosted Orange Drop Recipe

By Tami Smith

Yield: 2 dozen cookies

This makes a great cake-like cookie. The orange flavor just jumps out at you at every bite !  You can make other citrus flavors, by substituting the extract, juice and zest.

1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, room temperature
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
1 large sized egg
1 tsp orange extract
1/4 cup orange juice concentrate
zest from 1 orange
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
3 cups all-purpose flour
~~~~~
Glaze:
2 Tbsp orange juice concentrate
Enough powdered sugar to make a medium thick glaze/frosting
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the sour cream and egg and blend together. Stir in the flavoring, juice and zest. Scrape the bowl and stir in the dry ingredients.
Scoop by heaping tablespoon onto parchment covered sheet pans. I like to use my #50 cookie scoop.
Bake until the bottoms are a light golden brown, cool and the frost with the glaze. Set on a cooling rack to firm.
