1. Make zebra-striped icing--place chocolate and white icing separately in squeeze bottles. Cut the tips, and squeeze alternating strips. Gummi bears come to mind -- my kids always get them in multiple shapes, such as snakes, etc. Place on top of the frosting. Or, even a toy safari jeep would be cute.

2. You can also stencil a monkey face on top. There may be stencils already made for what you are looking for, but you can make your own. Find a picture of a monkey or whatever, and trace on a piece of paper. Take the plastic lid from a coffee can, and cut out the shape with an exacto knife. Place stencil on frosted cupcake (make sure the icing is flat) and sprinkle sifted cocoa, powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, etc. The only problem is that you have to stencil right before serving because the sugar melts, unless you find nondissolving sugar from a cake decorating store.
