I am one who appreciates a good homemade cake & hate turning to boxed brands, but must admit that I love the taste of a boxed cake. I have tried dozens of cake recipes and have yet to find one that produces the same texture as that of a boxed cake. Does cutting the shortening into the dry ingredients have anything to do with the texture?
