If you are using a hand mixer that only had the beaters that is fine. You will mix with the mixer until you have added about 1 cup of flour, then you might want to change and stir the rest by hand. It depends on the power of the mixer, not all can handle heavy bread dough. If you are using a stand mixer, like the Kitchen Aid, you will use the beater attachment until you have added about 1 cup of flour, then change to the dough hook to finish the dough. Tami
